Dr. Bryan Carroll, an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at EVMS and the Director of Dermatologic Surgery, brings nearly 20 years' experience in research and clinical care to EVMS Dermatology. Graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Biology, he researched and published on genetics and biology of familial breast cancer. Funded by the National Institute of Health Medical Scientist Training Program, he earned both an MD and PhD at Case Western Reserve University. Within the departments of Genetics and Anesthesiology, his PhD thesis work employed genetics and biochemistry to dissect the function of volatile anesthetics.
Dr. Carroll completed his Internal Medicine internship at Pennsylvania State University. He. supplemented a three year Dermatology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern with research into alternative pathologic processing of melanoma Mohs debulk specimens to enable drug investigations of fresh tissue. Dr. Carroll completed a Fellowship in Procedural Dermatology at Virginia Commonwealth University to become an expert in treating large, complex and recurrent tumors and reconstructing the most complicated cases.
